With joy, I hope. Those poor employees.
Another union killing its employer. When will they learn that unless a company makes a profit they do not have a job. Hopefully these former employees get the message and get out of this union.
There is much more to the story of Hostess than people realize. Over a 15 month period Hostess stopped paying employee pensions and told employees that they would have to cut employee wages up to 32%. While they were doing this and telling this to employees, as well as when they filed for bankruptcy for a second time this year, Hostess tripled it’s CEOs pay and gave executive pay increases up to 80%. For a very long time Hostess has been suffering from American diets changing and therefore sales declining while expenses for things like ingredients climbed. Their downward spiral and collapse is Hostess’s own fault.
@Charlie, way to go, another mindless union-bashing comment without knowing thing one about what was actually happening at Hostess. Romney lost, go sit down now.
WTF does this have to do with Romney?!? Obama won, stop bashing Romney now.
Angela, that may be true, but the bottom line is that the ONE union who refused to follow the court’s instructions fired the fatal shot.
And well, well, lookie here … a July, 2012 article from CNN Money about Hostess … turns out the “Bain Capital” role was played by Ripplewood, whose CEO is Tim Collins … a Democrat. He hired Dick Gephardt as a consultant. Gephardt, of course, was the House Majority Leader, another Democrat, and very much “in” with the unions.
So — the “Bain Capital” hysteria that they’re still trying to get us to believe is really a Democrat-run private equity firm, and there was union involvement from the start, the first bankruptcy. How do you like that?
Here’s the article: http://management.fortune.cnn.com/2012/07/26/hostess-twinkies-bankrupt/
What did I get wrong? One union the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International killed a company. If they did not think they were getting enough money quit and go somewhere else. Instead they went on strike. These idiots are getting what they deserve that is nothing. It is just too bad that the other employees have to suffer for these morons.
I guess you will never understand that a company has to make a profit to stay in business, unlike the Federal government.
As for Obama winning the election, it what it is. People will vote for anyone as long as he/she gives them free stuff. Obama has given a lot of people “free” stuff.
Surely there has to be a way to blame Michelle Obama since her platform is anti-childhood-obesity.
