Bunny Insisted I Share This With You

I was all, “This is gross. No one wants to see this.” And she was like, “Mockdockers will want to see this. It’s fascinating and full of awesome inuendo.” And the rest of our conversation went like this:

Mock: I cannot IMAGINE working a factory job like that. I would seriously want to kill myself.
Bunny: I told my boss I would never complain about my job again. And he said, “Yes, you will.” But STILL.
Mock: Can you imagine? All day, every day, you work on a machine making hot dogs.
Bunny: I know. I will never eat hot dogs again.
Mock: I will TOTALLY eat hot dogs again, and in fact, I will have one for dinner. JUST OUT OF RESPECT for the people who work in those factories.
Bunny: You have to mock that. People need to see it.

So there you have it. I have been commanded by Bunny to show you this.

I’m always fascinated to watch the inner workings of factories and see the ingenuity of the machines and the precision with which they do their tasks. And big vats of goo are always fun, too. Thanks, Bunny! 🙂

I can imagine the one woman (at the end of the machine, with all the hot dogs passing through her hand)bragging to her friends.
“Do you have any idea how many weenies have come through these hands?”

There is a great movie called Koyaanisqatsi that has a clip of hot dogs being manufactured followed by humans going up or down escalators. It’s speeded up so you can see a parallel effect.

Isn’t it ironic that we can see how hot dogs are made (all the grossness) and still get that “mmmm” feeling when biting into one with mustard, relish, onions, etc? Crazy. I will totally forget that vat of hot dog goo next time I order one.

I’m at least a month away from forgetting this.

You ought to see how yogurt and Campbell’s soup is made. Hot Dogs are tame by comparison.

I laughed out loud at your comment, Sarah! 🙂

hmmmm, at the 2 minute mark it kinda looks like an out-take from “Two Girls and a Cup”.

I was sure I was off hot dogs at the mention of “meat batter”. But as other said, I’m sure come summer I’ll forget.

This is the kind of thing that makes me want to move somewhere where I can raise my own animals to make this stuff myself. I already make my own sausage (breakfast and sweet italian) because I have the time to (and its more cost effective). Meat batter *shutter*
