Daisy and I were discussing Botox earlier today, what with us aging and all.  When you get to your late 30s and early 40s, you notice stuff like wrinkles and lines and other stuff on your face that has no business being there, because that stuff belongs on old people.  And we don’t FEEL old.

Anyway, I get the appeal of Botox and fillers and all the other stuff that people do to themselves to get youngified.

But you know what I’ve decided about Botox and Botox related products?  All they really do is make you look like you’ve had Botox.  I mean, does Madonna’s skin look smooth and wrinkle-free?  Yes.  Does she look younger?  No – she looks like she’s about 50 with a really good Botox job.

I think I’ll just age gracefully.

Actually, scratch that.  I think I’ll just age NATURALLY, but with absolutely no grace.

Good for you Mock! You are beautiful now and will continue to be as you get older!

No see it’s not like that!
Yes, we all know Madonna is 40+ and has had Botox and such. The thing is, now we don’t have to look at the wrinkles and neither does she. Win/win. It’s not that anyone is trying to fool anyone, but rather that it just makes it look better. Like cleaning the house and vacuuming the carpet – it just tidies it up a bit without really changing anything.

I agree with you about women looking like they have Botox and still looking old.

I think the best thing to do is take care of your skin and let it do its own thing.

Hmm….I don’t know honestly. I’m 45 and was thinking of getting botox for my 40th birthday until everyone screamed “no!” to me.

I have that one wrinkle between my eyebrows and my ex husband used to smile and giggle and put one finger on it and say how much he loved it. But he wasn’t being mean. He really did love it. But honestly, I don’t know what I will do someday. Hmmm…..

I think the problem with Botox is that the remaining wrinkles are no longer in proportion. To me, the wrinkles around her eyes and lips REALLY stand out compared to the rest of her skin.

On the bright side, at least she’s wearing sleves and we don’t have to look at her arms!!

Wow Madonna looks so old in this picture! I mean the lines on her face that wasn’t affected by botox stands out a lot and so does her neck. I suppose if she was a bit chubbier she would look a little younger (well that’s what people say, fat people look younger cause the fat in their face is still there.)

Anyway, I think the only good example of good botox use would have to be Demi Moore. I’m sure she would look fine without it too as she aged relatively gracefully. If you eat right and take care of your skin and hydrate you should be good to go. Oh yeah Jennifer Aniston is pretty good with the botox too I think.

My luck would be I would have a reaction to the botox and end up worse off than before.

Madonna is 50 I believe, and her face is only part of the problem, it is the rest of her that is frightening. She looks like a grandma that is ready to grab her gun.

Her hair looks great, she is in decent shape (think Venus di Milo, no arms!) something tells me, if she would ease up on the Bette Davis eye make-up and go for something a little more natural, she might shave off a few years in appearance.

At least Botox is temporary, if you get plastic surgery, you risk doing this to yourself:

He just looks WEIRD, I’d rather look old then weird!

Let’s see, spend $250,000 and look like Demi Moore, who’s really not THAT old, and has taken care of herself, unlike your Courtney Loves and Pam Anderson’s. Wait until Demi hits her 50’s and 60’s and see how she copes, eh?, or let nature take her course.

    Katharine Hepburn was a beaut.

Boy I can imagine that face in the morning.
