Just What I Always Wanted!

I know.  I have no idea either.

Did you guys ever have the doll baby that would drink and eat and then pee and poop and you could change its diaper and that was supposed to be the coolest doll ever for little girls?  I totally had that doll.  I don’t remember what it was called now, but it was something along the lines of Real Life Baby, or Poop-and-Pee-Baby or something like that.  And I remember saving up my itty bitty allowance and finally being able to go buy that doll, and thinking how cool it was that I had my own baby to feed and diaper.  Why this was fun for me – I have no idea.

But you know what always creeped me out? That doll that was just a head on a tray that you were supposed to use to practice hair styles and makeup on.  Eeew.  I never wanted that creepy doll head.  Plus, I was far too busy with my Charlie’s Angels Deluxe Hideout Set, as you may recall.

One thing I’m pretty convinced I never wanted though, was a doll who I could shave.

  • It was Baby Alive, the only doll I ever loved! Too bad I bathed her and rusted out the battery compartment.

  • That doll was a Baby Alive. One used to be able to stuff this gel like “food” in its mouth and watch it poo it out a few minutes later.

I had a couple, but could never find additional diapers or food when I ran out!

I also had the glamour “bust” or Barbie Head. It came with green eyeshadow and none of the make up stayed on.

  • This shaveable doll is nasty. Kind of reminds me of a pervs dream.

  • Does it grow back? That idea just makes me want to vomit.

  • That’s just all kinds of screwed up.

  • Yeah, does the “hair” grow back? And does it grow back coarser and thicker than before?

I had a Baby Alive doll! I made my own cloth diapers (how environmentally aware of me) and fed her instant chocolate pudding for that authentic poo color. I loved that doll — she’s somewhere at my mom’s house, along with my Baby Tender Love doll.

  • I had the Farrah Fawcett creepy doll head. It too had blue and green eyeshadow. I remember learning how to make a ponytail on that thing. Those fake eyelashes totally threw me though. I have a Gerber baby doll somewere stashed away.

  • Why would you want a doll that poops on you? What is the point of that kind of doll??

  • I had a one of those big Barbie heads. I cut her hair and put a black dot above her lip and sold her in a garage sale as Kristy McNichol. I was in to that movie “Little Darlings” at the time.

  • Baby Alive is BACK! And creepier than ever.

I didn’t have her but had a much-loved doll that I could feed with a bottle and then it would get diaper rash. I found this much less delightful when it happened with my actual children.

PS “Little Darlings” rocks. I was so very in love with Matt Dillon although, looking back now, I am as mystified by that as my childhood desire to change fake poopie diapers.

  • So, I’m supposed to hand a kid this scary doll and a RAZOR and tell her to go play? Nice China… real nice…

  • OMG!! I totally had the Baby Alive! For about 3 months anyway, until one day she went missing. Found her in the woods with her head ripped off… my brothers wanted to know how she worked. I am forever scarred. I also had the “Big Head Barbie” with that horrible make up that never came off, and the little copper wires in her hair to make “curling” it easier. But no, never even imagined a doll you can SHAVE. Good way to encourage little girls to play with razors around babies!
